FAQs
A few things people ask.
Helpful details as you consider reaching out.
Are sessions in-person or online?
In-person sessions are currently offered in Long Beach.
Online sessions throughout California can be arranged once the therapeutic relationship has been established.
What are the session rates?
My fee is $150 per 50-minute session. Payment is due at the time of each session.
Is insurance accepted?
While I do not accept insurance, I am happy to provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance carrier for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
What can I expect from the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin exploring what brings you to therapy. We will talk about what you have been experiencing, what you would like support with, and what you hope to gain from therapy.
I’ll also answer any questions you have and explain what you can expect from the therapy process.
How long will I be in therapy?
The length of treatment depends on your individual needs, goals, circumstances, and the type of support you are seeking. Some concerns may benefit from shorter-term therapy, while others may take more time to explore.
We will regularly check in about how therapy is feeling and whether it continues to meet your needs. The goal is not simply to stay in therapy, but to make therapy meaningful and useful for you.
Do I need ongoing therapy for pet loss?
Pet loss can look different for everyone, and there is no set timeline for grief.
For some people, a single session can provide a place to process the initial shock of a loss, talk through what they are experiencing, and receive support during those first difficult days. Others may benefit from meeting more regularly in the weeks following a loss, while some may want longer-term support as they navigate the many layers of grief, adjustment, and life after their companion is gone.
We will work together to determine what feels most supportive for you. There is no expectation that pet-loss therapy needs to be long-term, and you are welcome to return for additional support if your needs change over time.
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple. You can send a message using the form on my website or you can reach out by phone/text or email to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
You don’t need to know exactly what to say before reaching out. A simple message about what brings you to therapy is a good place to begin.
